I'm curious about approaching local businesses about web advertising (I have a blog that is focused on a local community and probably could do well for local businseses). I've seen rates for ads in local publications, ad circulars and such, and I can't see how it's worth it, especially given the difficulty in tracking ROI. But online advertising, for most of these businesses, is equally ineffective and difficult to track, as they don't have an online location/buisness, but are rather funnelling the online traffic back to real-world business.
